December Freebies: A Free Novel from Tor Books!

Published by rosearcher at 4:33 am under Web Fun for Writers, What's Hot! Edit This

buried-pyramid.jpgI understand that the electronic format of reading a novel online might be new to some, but almost everything I’m posting this month has been a print (or traditional, or “real”) book, first. These are contemporary novels that - believe me - more than a just a few people have on their actual bookshelves after having bought the physical book in a bookstore.

Having a link here just makes it instantly accessible - and it’s FREE. I love print books, as well, but these books are too good to pass up!

For today, here’s some fantasy and advernture: a novel published by Tor Books called The Buried Pyramid by Jane Lindskold .

This is a rare case where you have to sign up (for FREE) on the site, but I promise that it’s really, really easy. They don’t even make you verify your email address before you can download the free book. (Tor and Forge are owned by Macmillian, and are “proper” publishing companies.)

Here’s the blurb (and it looks good!): “Jenny Benet, a recently orphaned American girl who was raised on the Wild West frontier and educated at a Boston finishing school, has come to Egypt in company with her uncle Neville Hawthorne, a prominent British archaeologist. They’re part of a team investigating the legendary Buried Pyramid, the tomb of the pharaoh Neferankhotep — who may also have been Moses the Lawgiver.

“But they’re not the only ones interested in the site. Another party, led by the opulent and treacherous Lady Audrey Cheshire, is shadowing theirs. Someone who signs himself ‘The Sphinx’ has been sending threatening letters — written entirely in hieroglyphics. In Egypt, an ancient and shadowy organization seems determined to keep the tomb from being discovered. But mortals may not be all that stands in their way.”

Go, go, go!
